Kingsbridge Town Lands Charity Policy Document
The Feoffees since the scheme of 15.2.1957 have adopted an unwritten policy regarding the application of income of the Charity in relieving either generally or individually persons resident in the Parish of Kingsbridge who are in conditions of need hardship or distress (in modern terminology “disadvantaged”) and now taking into account the provisions of the Equality Act of 2010.
Notwithstanding the limitation over residency it has been and continues to be the Feoffees policy that prior consideration be given to persons who have a long standing connection or possibly association with the Town of Kingsbridge (Parishes of Kingsbridge and Dodbrooke) or the immediate surrounding area.
As part of their policy for providing the needs of persons specified about the Trustees have acquired a number of residential dwellings which are let to such persons at affordable rents amounting to not more than 80% of the marketable rent or such percentage the Trustees may decide from time to time.
In selecting such persons the Trustees as well as complying with the Scheme of the Charity now comply with the relevant conditions of the Equality Act 2010 and the Data Protection Law.
